Switz Foods Private Limited was incorporated in May 1991 at Kolkata, West Bengal, to market the Monginis range of packaged cakes, manufactured by Morginis Foods Limited, Mumbai, in West Bengal Sikkim, Bihar, Orissa Assam Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura and Manipur and the neighbouring countries of Bhutan, Nepal and Bangladesh.

In June 1990, 12 cotthas of land was allotted to the Company by Use WBSIC at the Kasba Industrial Estate, in East Kolkata, on the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass Constructon of the Bakery began in September 1990, and on December 9, 1991, the Bakery commenced commercial production, manufacturing savouries pastries, cakes, birthday gareaux, cookies breads and other bakery items. Our Unit was among the first ten to start commercial operations at the Industrial Estate

From its modest beginnings, our Company has achieved many firsts in the Industrial Estate, some of which are:

Increase of direct employment from 15 persons to 250 employees.

• Indirect employment of 1000 persons through its franchise shop and transport system. 

• Increase of floor area from 4000 sqft, to 20,000 sqft spread over three floors. 

• Doubling of turnover almost each year starting from Rs. 53.28 lakhs in 1992-93 to Rs. 14.87crores in 2002-03. 

• 87 exclusive franchise cake Shops. in Calcutta and suburbs 

The Company has had a long relationship with the Indian Railways and is an approved supplier to t1he Eastern Railways from 1991. It is an empanelled vendor and supplies its products to both the Howrah and Sealdah Stations.

In Its endeavour to bring to Kolkata the best international quality available in craft bakery, the Company has consistently upgraded its machines by importing considerable "state of the art" ovens, sheeters, mixers, bun dividers, moulds, chocolate melting and ternpering machines, cooling systems etc from Switzerland, Holland, Denmark, Sweden and Italy. The Company has recently Introduced international quality chocolates and a range of cold recipes, some for the first time in Kolkata.
